Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach multiple subjects to Middle School students, with a focus on Numeracy and Literacy.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to co-teach and co-plan unique curriculum components.
  • Support the development of a mixed-age group of Grade 6-8 students in a co-taught environment.
  • Foster a learning environment that encourages student-led discovery and critical thinking.
  • Engage students in outdoor activities and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the developmental needs of students in a small, supportive setting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum and educational philosophy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Native or near-native speaker of English.
  • Ability to work in the EU without a visa.
  • Experience teaching multiple subjects at the Middle School level.
  • Strong foundation in Numeracy and Literacy instruction for students aged 11-14.
  • Willingness to step back as a teacher and let students take control of their learning.
  • Comfort with outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, and swimming.
  • Ability to interact with children in non-violent and non-coercive ways.
  • Flexibility to embrace unexpected learning opportunities and follow student interests.

Preferred

  • Experience in progressive or alternative educational settings.
  • Skills supporting a developing maker community.
  • Interest in outdoor pursuits such as foraging, conservation, and camping.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Ability to conduct research and support student-led projects beyond standard curriculum.
