The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dynamic Middle School Performing Arts Teacher to lead and inspire students in Band and Choir. This role offers the opportunity to shape young minds through the power of music, while contributing to the school’s vibrant performing arts program and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Band and Choir across all three middle school grade levels, including Grade 6 Beginning Band, Grade 7 Band, Grade 8 Band, Grade 6 Beginning Choir, Grade 7 Choir, and Grade 8 Choir.
  • Direct and produce two major concerts annually, one in each semester.
  • Design and deliver lessons that incorporate inquiry, differentiation, and standards-based assessment.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into classroom and performance work.
  • Collaborate with curriculum coordinators and colleagues across disciplines to support interdisciplinary learning and continuity.
  • Develop unit maps and instruction using backward design (UbD) and integrate inquiry, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
  • Foster a supportive ensemble culture that promotes positive behavior, belonging, and student engagement.
  • Model and uphold the school’s professional expectations and commitment to child safeguarding.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Current middle school teaching license or certification in performing arts education.
  • Minimum of two years of experience teaching performing arts in an accredited secondary school.
  • Demonstrated experience directing concerts at the school or community level.
  • Strong classroom management skills grounded in positive behavior supports and restorative practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with Google Suite and educational technology tools for collaboration and creative production.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a multicultural, international environment.
  • Experience with inquiry-based instruction and integration of SEL into learning.
