The Opportunity:
As a Middle School Science Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping young minds through innovative and inquiry-based instruction. You will inspire curiosity and a love for science while promoting social-emotional growth and a strong sense of belonging among students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement science units aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the school’s curriculum
- Create and deliver engaging, differentiated lesson plans that promote critical thinking and scientific inquiry
- Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies into classroom activities and assessments
- Collaborate with the Science department to organize and lead the annual Academic Fair (Science Fair)
- Maintain a classroom environment that supports student growth, collaboration, and reflection
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to support student progress and achievement
- Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices in science education
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, committees, and extracurricular activities
- Uphold the school’s commitment to child safeguarding and professional expectations
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Current Secondary license or certification for teaching Science
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Middle School Science teacher in an accredited secondary school
- Familiarity with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and experience integrating them into curriculum
- Strong classroom management skills grounded in positive behavior supports
Preferred
- Background in Physics or Chemistry
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Experience with inquiry-based instruction and differentiation
- Proficiency with Google Suite and educational technology tools
- Experience working in a multicultural, international environment
