The Opportunity:
The Music Department Graduate Assistant will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the music department, while also contributing to the school’s vibrant performing arts calendar. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and passionate individual to develop their skills and make a real impact in a dynamic educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in classes, including guiding pupils in composition, theory, and preparation for performances.
- Support the music department administrator with secretarial duties, concert poster design, and report collation.
- Participate in and assist with stage management for rehearsals and concerts.
- Engage actively in the school’s performing ensembles, including choirs, orchestras, and bands.
- Contribute to community projects, such as assisting pupils with music for staged productions.
- Accompany staff and pupils on trips to professional concerts and occasional tours.
- Support lunchtime and break time duties, and assist with sport in the junior school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Excellent ICT skills and working knowledge of music notation software.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with pupils and staff.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and outside of normal hours.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently.
- Excellent practical music skills.
Preferred
- Confidence as an accompanist, able to support assemblies, concerts, and examinations.
