The Opportunity:

A Music Teacher is needed to deliver engaging and impactful lessons using the principles of the Ambitious Approach. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of autistic learners through creative and expressive arts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high quality teaching, learning and emotional regulation support to autistic children and young people.
  • Plan, resource and teach Expressive Arts lessons, with a particular focus on Music, to class groups, small groups and 1:1 intervention sessions.
  • Provide excellent delivery, teaching and course leadership to learners across the school.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people supported.
  • Prepare all resources required in advance of each session.
  • Work with pupils to ensure they receive a service that delivers the outcomes specified in their individualised learning, person-centred plans.
  • Collaborate with the Expressive Arts Lead to organise and coordinate arts trips, workshops, performances and celebration events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in teaching music or related subjects.
  • Understanding of autism and special educational needs.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Ambitious Approach to education.
  • Experience working with autistic children and young people.
  • Experience with assistive communication systems.
  • Experience in delivering 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Background in Expressive Arts, including dance and drama.
