Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a high-quality music curriculum aligned with GCSE Eduqas Music specification.
  • Implement effective teaching strategies and Assessment for Learning (AfL) techniques to enhance student performance.
  • Use student data to identify areas for development and support individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Performing Arts Department to share best practices and support student enrichment.
  • Organise and lead music-related events, including performance evenings and after-school activities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Support students in preparing for GCSE music exams through tutoring and performance opportunities.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and professionalism in the classroom and across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in a relevant subject area and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Recent and relevant teaching experience, including assessment at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum developments in music education.
  • Proficiency in using standard computer packages to support teaching and learning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering music enrichment programs and extracurricular activities.
  • Background in teaching at Key Stage 3 and 4, with a focus on GCSE music.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills within a team environment.
