The Opportunity:

As a Music Teacher (Key Stage 3 & SEND), you will deliver high-quality music education to a diverse group of students, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This role is ideal for someone passionate about music and dedicated to inclusive teaching practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and well-sequenced music lessons for Key Stage 3 students.
  • Create and implement differentiated lesson plans and resources to support a wide range of learners.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages musical appreciation and development.
  • Collaborate with Learning Support Coordinators to implement individual education plans and provide appropriate accommodations.
  • Incorporate a variety of musical genres, styles, and cultures to enhance students’ learning experiences.
  • Organise and lead music-related extracurricular activities such as choirs, bands, or ensembles.
  • Support performances, concerts, and events as part of the school’s music programme.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and achievements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education or equivalent.
  • A degree in Music or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Proven experience of teaching Music successfully at Key Stage 3 level.
  • Demonstrable experience of planning and implementing adaptive teaching strategies for students with a wide range of SEND.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments.
  • Experience with teaching music theory and notation.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A dedication to continuous professional development.
