Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualised occupational therapy interventions tailored to the needs of students with autism and associated difficulties.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, care teams, and parents to ensure consistent support and progress for students.
  • Develop and implement sensory-based strategies to enhance students’ learning and engagement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed to meet individual goals.
  • Provide training and guidance to other staff members on best practices in occupational therapy and sensory support.
  • Maintain detailed records of interventions, progress, and outcomes in line with school policies and safeguarding requirements.
  • Work closely with other professionals to support the holistic development of students.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of care and education plans.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Registered Occupational Therapist with a BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification.
  • Sensory training experience.
  • Experience working with children with autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated resilience and ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience working within specialist autism services or similar educational settings.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Knowledge of educational frameworks and curricula for students with special educational needs.
  • Experience in delivering therapy in a school or residential setting.
