The Opportunity:
As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work as part of a collaborative, therapeutic team to deliver individualized care and interventions that help students thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy interventions tailored to students' specific needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other therapists to support student progress and well-being.
- Conduct assessments and create detailed reports to guide therapeutic planning and intervention.
- Provide direct therapy sessions and support students in developing life skills, sensory processing, and motor coordination.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide therapeutic strategies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with school policies and legal requirements.
- Support the delivery of trauma-informed care across all aspects of student life.
- Stay up to date with best practices in occupational therapy and therapeutic education.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified and registered occupational therapist with relevant professional experience.
- Experience working with children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Strong understanding of therapeutic education and trauma-informed practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- Experience with education, health and care (EHC) plans.
- Commitment to professional development and ongoing learning.
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites and support a range of student needs.
