Summary:

Occupational Therapist needed at a special school with complex needs.

The Opportunity:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with complex needs through individualised assessments and treatment plans. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure students receive the highest standard of care and support, helping them to develop essential life skills and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and treat young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Develop and implement individualised occupational therapy plans
  • Collaborate with other professionals including teachers, care staff and other therapists
  • Provide line management and supervision of an Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions to support students’ emotional and physical development
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to student reviews
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding and health and safety policies
  • Support the development of students’ coping strategies and social skills

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualifying experience working with children and young people
  • Relevant occupational therapy qualification
  • Experience in managing and supervising junior staff
  • Knowledge of therapeutic interventions and crisis management techniques
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment

Preferred

  • Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs
  • Experience in a residential or special school setting
  • Familiarity with therapeutic models such as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
