Summary:

Part Time Science Lab Technician role available at a special needs school in Stoke-on-Trent.

A school dedicated to providing inclusive education for young people aged 6–19 with complex needs, including Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. It fosters a supportive, innovative, and inclusive learning environment.

The Opportunity:

As a Part Time Science Lab Technician, you will contribute to a safe and engaging science learning environment. This role supports students with complex needs through hands-on practical learning and collaboration with teachers and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain science lab equipment to the highest standards
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for practical learning sessions
  • Support students during experiments and adapt tasks to meet individual needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to enhance science learning
  • Uphold and enforce health and safety protocols in the lab
  • Assist with the storage, organisation, and management of lab supplies
  • Provide guidance and support to students during practical activities
  • Maintain accurate records of lab usage and equipment maintenance

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A science-related qualification at A-level or higher
  • Experience working in a lab environment with a strong focus on safety
  • A positive, supportive, and patient attitude
  • Willingness to adapt to the needs of students with complex requirements
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs
  • Knowledge of science curriculum and practical teaching methods
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in educational settings
