The Opportunity:
We are seeking a part-time Science Technician to join a dynamic and collaborative Science Department. This role will support teaching across KS3 to KS5 and ensure laboratories and preparation rooms are well-organised and maintained. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a passion for science education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teaching and learning in the Science Department across KS3 to KS5
- Assist with the maintenance and organisation of laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas
- Prepare and manage scientific equipment and materials for lessons
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained in all science areas
- Collaborate with other technicians and science staff to deliver a cohesive service
- Undertake further studies and professional development as required
- Maintain accurate records of equipment, consumables and laboratory usage
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of science demonstrations and experiments
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Experience working in a technical support team or school science laboratories
- A flexible and collaborative approach to work
- Ability to work within a team and take responsibility for assigned tasks
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised working environment
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of science laboratory procedures and safety standards
- Willingness to undertake further studies and professional development
- Strong organisational and time management skills
