The Opportunity:

We are seeking a part-time Science Technician to join a dynamic and collaborative Science Department. This role will support teaching across KS3 to KS5 and ensure laboratories and preparation rooms are well-organised and maintained. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a passion for science education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning in the Science Department across KS3 to KS5
  • Assist with the maintenance and organisation of laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas
  • Prepare and manage scientific equipment and materials for lessons
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained in all science areas
  • Collaborate with other technicians and science staff to deliver a cohesive service
  • Undertake further studies and professional development as required
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, consumables and laboratory usage
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of science demonstrations and experiments

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • Experience working in a technical support team or school science laboratories
  • A flexible and collaborative approach to work
  • Ability to work within a team and take responsibility for assigned tasks
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised working environment

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of science laboratory procedures and safety standards
  • Willingness to undertake further studies and professional development
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
