From £24,477 to £27,182 per annum (FTE of £31,473 - £34,951) inclusive of 15.55% holiday pay. Starting salary dependent on skills, knowledge and experience. An additional overnight allowance of approximately £3,750 per annum is also payable.

The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and development of students in a residential setting. This is a full-time, fixed-term position with opportunities for extension, offering a unique chance to be part of a dedicated team focused on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day running of the boarding house, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students.
  • Assist in the supervision and care of students, promoting their emotional, social, and academic wellbeing.
  • Work closely with the Houseparent and other team members to deliver a high standard of pastoral care.
  • Participate in evening, weekend, and overnight duties as required, ensuring the smooth operation of the boarding house.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, helping them to develop independence and resilience.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding student progress and concerns.
  • Contribute to the overall mission and values of the school through active participation in events and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A genuine interest in the development and welfare of young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight duties.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a pastoral or residential care role.
  • Experience working with young people in a school or boarding environment.
  • Knowledge of child development and wellbeing practices.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
