The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Assistant, you will play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. You will provide direct pastoral care and work closely with staff to ensure consistent support across the school, making a real difference in the lives of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a respectful, inclusive environment that recognises the value and individuality of every pupil
- Ensure school policies and day-to-day practice reflect the school’s ethos and challenge inappropriate behaviour
- Provide direct pastoral support, including emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day
- Assist class teachers with classroom management, supervision, and care
- Contribute to the development and delivery of individual education, behaviour, and support programmes
- Work alongside the Head of Behaviour and Welfare to implement pastoral strategies
- Guide staff on effective support strategies and contribute to the holistic development of pupils
- Support students experiencing crisis or requiring additional emotional support
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working in challenging educational environments
- Proven success supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Strong knowledge of strategies to support social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Commitment to professional standards, quality practice, and continuous improvement
Preferred
- Experience working in a therapeutic or trauma-informed setting
- Experience with individualised support programmes
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
