Pastoral Assistant needed to support students and staff in a caring, inclusive school environment.

The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Assistant, you will play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. You will provide direct pastoral care and work closely with staff to ensure consistent support across the school, making a real difference in the lives of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a respectful, inclusive environment that recognises the value and individuality of every pupil
  • Ensure school policies and day-to-day practice reflect the school’s ethos and challenge inappropriate behaviour
  • Provide direct pastoral support, including emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day
  • Assist class teachers with classroom management, supervision, and care
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of individual education, behaviour, and support programmes
  • Work alongside the Head of Behaviour and Welfare to implement pastoral strategies
  • Guide staff on effective support strategies and contribute to the holistic development of pupils
  • Support students experiencing crisis or requiring additional emotional support

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in challenging educational environments
  • Proven success supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Strong knowledge of strategies to support social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Commitment to professional standards, quality practice, and continuous improvement

Preferred

  • Experience working in a therapeutic or trauma-informed setting
  • Experience with individualised support programmes
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
