The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex emotional and behavioural needs. You will help create a safe and positive environment that enables young people to thrive. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex emotional and behavioural needs through individualized care plans
  • Work closely with families and other professionals to develop and implement support strategies
  • Monitor and assess student progress and adjust care plans as needed
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students in a nurturing and structured environment
  • Collaborate with teaching and care staff to ensure a consistent approach to student well-being
  • Assist with the delivery of pastoral programs and activities that promote personal development
  • Maintain accurate records of student behavior, progress, and care interventions
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance support practices

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs (BESD, ASD, SEMH)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • NVQ 3 in Care or Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification
  • Experience of multi-agency working and knowledge of safeguarding legislation
  • Previous experience with ASC, ADHD or SEMH pupils
  • Experience working with families in challenging circumstances
