The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Lead, you will be responsible for maintaining a calm, safe, and orderly learning environment by overseeing student conduct outside of lessons and leading the on-call pastoral response. This role is ideal for someone with strong behaviour leadership experience and a passion for supporting students in making positive and sustained improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the school’s daily pastoral response and ensure a visible and authoritative presence across the site.
  • Respond swiftly to behavioural, attendance, and pastoral concerns.
  • Lead the operational delivery of behaviour, attendance, and inclusion systems.
  • Design and quality-assure targeted pastoral interventions.
  • Uphold high professional standards across the pastoral team.
  • Maintain oversight of key pastoral and safeguarding data to inform decision-making.
  • Build constructive relationships with staff, students, and families.
  • Contribute to the development of pastoral processes and systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a school environment with a focus on behaviour leadership.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, authoritative, and solution-focused under pressure.
  • Experience in managing student conduct and supporting students in making positive improvements.
  • Confidence in using school systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

Preferred

  • Experience with pastoral interventions and behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in leading and developing a pastoral team.
  • Knowledge of inclusion systems and pastoral support frameworks.
