Pastoral Lead Teacher - Fixed-Term position available at a top-ranking Sixth Form College.

The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Lead Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the tutorial programme and supporting students’ academic, personal, and career development. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students through effective pastoral leadership and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the development of a highly effective and well-attended tutorial programme.
  • Deliver engaging and informative tutorial lesson plans on student well-being, mental health, and career progression.
  • Support the Head of Pastoral in the continuous improvement of overall pastoral services.
  • Address student concerns, manage behavioural and attendance issues, and provide guidance to students and parents.
  • Ensure the implementation of safeguarding and mental health first aid practices within the team.
  • Work closely with the pastoral team to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the tutorial programme and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on pastoral service performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in pastoral care or student support within an educational setting.
  • Advanced Safeguarding training or willingness to complete it.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Commitment to student well-being and personal development.
  • Experience in developing and delivering tutorial programmes or similar initiatives.

Preferred

  • Mental Health First Aid training.
  • Experience in a Sixth Form or further education setting.
  • Background in curriculum development or academic support.
  • Experience in managing student behaviour and attendance issues.
  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms and online communication tools.
