The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Manager, you will play a key role in improving student wellbeing, attendance, and academic engagement. You will support students by addressing barriers to learning and strengthening school-home relationships. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student lives and contribute to a positive, inclusive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student wellbeing and attendance.
  • Work closely with students, parents, and teachers to address barriers to learning and support academic engagement.
  • Strengthen relationships between the school and families to enhance student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with statutory services to reduce pressure and provide targeted support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive school culture and community ethos.
  • Support the implementation of the school’s vision and values through pastoral leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or student support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Experience in improving student wellbeing and attendance.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and vision, including a focus on inclusivity and personal development.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a pastoral team or leading pastoral initiatives.
  • Knowledge of educational psychology or student support frameworks.
  • Experience with statutory services and multi-agency working.
  • Experience in a school setting with a diverse student population.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and academic engagement strategies.
