The Opportunity:

The Pastoral Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting students’ emotional and social development, ensuring a positive learning environment. This role involves working closely with students, parents, and the pastoral team to address barriers to learning and promote student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in managing their behaviour and emotional needs through individualized strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the pastoral team and AVP for Behaviour to ensure smooth school operations.
  • Provide guidance and implement support plans to help students overcome learning barriers.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to maintain strong relationships and support student progress.
  • Assist students in transitioning between different stages of their education.
  • Offer advice and support to students facing complex emotional challenges.
  • Contribute to the development of student social and emotional skills.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being regularly.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Understanding of child development and behaviour management strategies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with vulnerable or challenging students.
  • Knowledge of alternative provision and its unique challenges.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individual support plans.
  • Familiarity with educational policies and safeguarding procedures.
