The Opportunity:

As a Payroll Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the school’s payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries and benefits. You will work closely with the HR and Finance teams to maintain compliance, manage payroll budgets, and support the school’s financial planning processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain staff pay records, including salary, benefits, and tax information.
  • Liaise with external payroll partners, such as payroll bureaus and pension providers, to ensure seamless communication and processing.
  • Assist in the analysis of payroll costs and support the Financial Controller with monthly forecasting and annual budgeting.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding pay and benefits-related matters.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records and reports.
  • Support system implementation projects where required.
  • Ensure payroll processes align with the school’s financial and HR strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a payroll role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Formal payroll qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience managing multiple pay scales and conditions of employment.

Preferred

  • Experience working in schools or similar educational institutions.
  • Familiarity with payroll system implementation projects.
  • Knowledge of HR and financial processes within the education sector.
