The Opportunity:

As a PE Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs to develop their physical abilities, self-esteem, and confidence through engaging and inclusive PE lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging PE lessons tailored to the needs of students
  • Support students in developing physical skills, teamwork, and confidence
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, psychologists, and other professionals to meet student needs
  • Plan and implement inclusive and challenging PE programs
  • Monitor and assess student progress and provide regular feedback
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Participate in staff development and training initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of the PE department and school-wide activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Previous teaching experience, ideally in KS2 and/or KS3
  • Experience working with students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to student well-being and inclusion

Preferred

  • Experience in designing and delivering inclusive PE programs
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and adaptive teaching strategies
  • Experience with behaviour management in a specialist setting
  • Passion for PE and its impact on young people’s development
