Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons tailored to the needs of students with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Develop and implement detailed schemes of work and lesson plans that support student learning and development.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and carers to support student progress and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with a range of agencies to address barriers to learning and support student success.
  • Provide consistent, high-quality teaching in small group settings, using creative and innovative approaches.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school policies and practices.
  • Support students in developing life skills and preparing for future education and employment.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with colleagues and external partners.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in special education or SEMH settings.
  • Proven ability to teach in small group settings with students who have emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and families.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering engaging lesson plans and schemes of work.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience working with neurodiverse students and understanding of therapeutic teaching approaches.
  • Knowledge of emotional wellbeing and mental health support strategies.
  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the principles of emotional literacy and child rights.
