The Opportunity:

As a Primary SENCo, you will lead and coordinate provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment. This role combines classroom teaching with strategic leadership, making a real difference in the lives of students and promoting best practice in SEND.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage provision for students with Special Educational Needs across the primary phase.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure inclusive education.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision and support strategies.
  • Provide professional guidance and training to staff on inclusive teaching practices.
  • Advocate for students with SEN and promote a culture of inclusion and support.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
  • Attend meetings with parents, carers, and external professionals to support student needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs.
  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN policy and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and curriculum adaptation.
  • Experience with developing and managing individual education plans.
  • Familiarity with assessment and monitoring tools for students with SEN.
