A school dedicated to providing specialist primary education in a calm, nurturing environment for children aged 6-11 with communication difficulties typically associated with Autism spectrum conditions.

As a Primary Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the educational experiences of students with autism, contributing to a supportive, inclusive and innovative learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualised teaching and learning tailored to the needs of students with autism and communication difficulties.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to support the holistic development of students.
  • Develop and implement short, medium, and long-term curriculum plans aligned with student needs.
  • Set and monitor personalised learning targets to ensure optimal progress and outcomes.
  • Assess and report on student progress to parents, colleagues, and external bodies in line with school policies.
  • Reflect on lesson outcomes and continuously improve teaching strategies.
  • Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC Plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
  • Maintain a structured, engaging and motivating classroom environment that promotes learning and well-being.
  • Stay informed on current developments in autism education to enhance teaching practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching across a range of subjects
  • Relevant knowledge and experience working with students with autism, SEMH and PDA profiles
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • Experience managing challenging behaviours and implementing effective behaviour management strategies

Preferred

  • Experience working in specialist educational settings
  • Experience with curriculum development and delivery for students with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to student and staff well-being
