Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a highly skilled senior leadership team and committed staff.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance educational outcomes for all students.
  • Strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders, including parents, local authorities, and specialist agencies.
  • Ensure the school maintains its high standards of education and support for students with complex learning needs.
  • Promote the school’s vision and ethos both internally and externally.
  • Support the development and research centre in driving system leadership and collaboration.
  • Ensure the school remains responsive to the evolving needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a senior leader in a specialist education setting, preferably in a school for students with complex learning needs.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Deep understanding of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and inclusive education practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing large teams and fostering a positive school culture.
  • Commitment to inclusion, equity, and high-quality education for all students.

Preferred

  • Experience in school improvement and transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of mentoring-coaching approaches to learning.
  • Experience in working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition or Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.
  • Experience in leading a school through periods of change and development.
