The Opportunity:

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Religion, Philosophy and Ethics Teacher to join our department on a part-time, fixed-term basis. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning and development while contributing to a vibrant and supportive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics to meet the needs of all students.
  • Mark student work regularly and thoroughly, maintaining accurate records of progress.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress of students, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Support Co-ordinator to implement effective support strategies for students requiring additional assistance.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject area and incorporate new ideas into teaching.
  • Support the Head of Department in developing syllabuses, schemes of work, and teaching methodologies.
  • Share resources and training materials with colleagues to enhance departmental effectiveness.
  • Contribute to departmental activities, including enrichment programs, clubs, and trips.
  • Engage in professional development to continuously improve teaching and learning practices.
  • Participate in whole school INSET sessions to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Extensive subject knowledge in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching and learning
  • Strong classroom management and teaching skills
  • Ability to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners
  • Commitment to student progress and welfare
  • Willingness to undergo child protection screening

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering syllabuses and schemes of work
  • Experience with teaching students with additional learning needs
  • Experience in leading or contributing to extracurricular activities
  • Experience with professional development and continuous learning
