The Opportunity:

As a School Business Manager, you will be responsible for leading the school’s financial and operational functions, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and sustainability. This is a senior leadership role with the potential to shape the long-term future of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the school’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Lead and coordinate HR functions, including staff recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the management of school estates, facilities, and support services.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators across all departments.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including suppliers and governing bodies.
  • Support the school’s mission and values through effective leadership and management.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior finance or business management role within an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, HR practices, and school operations.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and functions effectively.
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or college environment, preferably within the independent sector.
  • Familiarity with school governance structures and reporting lines.
  • Experience with financial software and HR management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
