Summary:

Seeking a dedicated School Chaplain to support spiritual growth and community engagement in a Catholic school setting.

The Opportunity:

As a School Chaplain, you will play a vital role in nurturing the spiritual and pastoral development of students, working closely with the Headteacher and contributing to the school’s mission of fostering a deep relationship with God.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide spiritual and pastoral support to students, creating opportunities for reflection and growth.
  • Develop and enhance the spiritual, liturgical, and prayer life of the school community.
  • Organize and lead worship events, school liturgies, and retreats, including the Celebration of the Word and pilgrimage programs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Diocese, local parishes, and the wider community, promoting Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Support and lead charitable initiatives, embedding Catholic values into the school environment.
  • Act as a model of Catholic values, demonstrating empathy, listening skills, and a strong moral compass.
  • Collaborate with staff and students to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Be a practising and committed Catholic with a clear vision for Catholic Life.
  • Have a strong moral foundation and the ability to lead by example.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Demonstrate excellent listening and counselling skills.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team and show a positive, can-do attitude.

Preferred

  • Experience in pastoral care or youth ministry.
  • Knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching and its application in educational settings.
  • Familiarity with organizing and leading retreats and pilgrimages.
  • Experience in promoting and embedding Catholic values within a school environment.
