The Opportunity:
As a School Cook, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious and varied meals that meet the dietary needs of students and staff. This role plays a vital part in supporting the health and wellbeing of the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and cook fresh, balanced meals for pupils and staff, taking into account dietary requirements and preferences
- Collaborate with education staff to develop menus that meet Government Healthy Eating expectations and accommodate sensory needs
- Ensure all food is prepared and served in line with food safety regulations and best practices
- Manage stock levels and maintain accurate records in accordance with health and safety policies
- Ensure the kitchen and associated areas are kept to a high standard of hygiene and compliance
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere during mealtimes for pupils
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 2 certificate in Food
- Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering
- Valid food hygiene certificate
Preferred
- Experience working in a school or educational setting
- Experience with special needs or autistic students
