The Opportunity:
We are seeking a part time School Kitchen Assistant to join our team and support the preparation and service of meals for students. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, hygienic kitchen and ensuring a positive dining experience for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve hot and cold meals in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and surrounding areas
- Assist with menu planning, ordering, and receiving deliveries as required
- Work flexibly and proactively in a busy and dynamic environment
- Follow health and safety procedures, including food hygiene and COSHH regulations
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and other staff members
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and personal hygiene standards
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working in a catering environment, preferably in a school or similar setting
- Good knowledge of kitchen equipment and cleaning schedules
- Understanding of food hygiene and health and safety legislation
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of personal and environmental hygiene
Preferred
- Experience in a school or residential care setting
- Knowledge of menu planning and food ordering systems
- Experience with health and safety training or certifications
- Flexibility and adaptability to handle a variety of tasks and requests
