The Opportunity:

We are seeking a part time School Kitchen Assistant to join our team and support the preparation and service of meals for students. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, hygienic kitchen and ensuring a positive dining experience for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold meals in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and surrounding areas
  • Assist with menu planning, ordering, and receiving deliveries as required
  • Work flexibly and proactively in a busy and dynamic environment
  • Follow health and safety procedures, including food hygiene and COSHH regulations
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and other staff members
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and personal hygiene standards

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a catering environment, preferably in a school or similar setting
  • Good knowledge of kitchen equipment and cleaning schedules
  • Understanding of food hygiene and health and safety legislation
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of personal and environmental hygiene

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or residential care setting
  • Knowledge of menu planning and food ordering systems
  • Experience with health and safety training or certifications
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle a variety of tasks and requests
