Summary:

School Librarian needed to support literacy development and library management at a dynamic school.

The Opportunity:

As a School Librarian, you will play a key role in promoting literacy, managing the library, and supporting students through targeted interventions. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of students and contribute to a school that values learning, respect, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the school library, including resource organisation, displays, and general upkeep
  • Develop and implement a library policy and development plan in collaboration with the Literacy Lead
  • Support small groups of students through literacy intervention and tailored reading resources
  • Catalogue and manage library stock, ensuring accessibility and availability of materials
  • Supervise student use of the library during lunchtimes and after school
  • Conduct assessments to identify students requiring literacy support and track their progress
  • Implement and promote literacy intervention programmes and strategies
  • Coordinate library-related events, such as book weeks and World Book Day
  • Contribute to whole-school literacy training and INSET sessions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in library management and literacy support
  • Ability to work effectively with students and staff
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Proficient in using library systems and resources

Preferred

  • Experience with literacy intervention programmes such as Accelerated Reader
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices
  • Experience in curriculum support and student engagement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with child protection policies and procedures
