The Opportunity:
As a School Librarian, you will play a key role in promoting high standards of literacy and a love of reading across the school community. You will be responsible for managing the library, organizing events, and ensuring that the library remains a vital part of the school’s educational development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the library and ensure it is a welcoming and well-organized space for students and staff.
- Promote literacy and a love of reading through engaging activities, events, and reading programs.
- Develop and maintain a diverse and up-to-date collection of books and resources.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to support the curriculum and enhance learning experiences.
- Provide guidance and support to students in using library resources effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of library stock and usage.
- Participate in school events and contribute to the school’s strategic goals.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all users of the library.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a library or educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of children’s literature and reading promotion strategies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to promoting literacy and a love of reading in a school environment.
Preferred
- Experience working with children in a school setting.
- Familiarity with digital library systems and resources.
- Experience in curriculum support or collaboration with teachers.
- Knowledge of inclusive practices and support for diverse learners.
