The Opportunity:

As a School Librarian, you will play a key role in promoting high standards of literacy and a love of reading across the school community. You will be responsible for managing the library, organizing events, and ensuring that the library remains a vital part of the school’s educational development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the library and ensure it is a welcoming and well-organized space for students and staff.
  • Promote literacy and a love of reading through engaging activities, events, and reading programs.
  • Develop and maintain a diverse and up-to-date collection of books and resources.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to support the curriculum and enhance learning experiences.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in using library resources effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of library stock and usage.
  • Participate in school events and contribute to the school’s strategic goals.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all users of the library.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a library or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of children’s literature and reading promotion strategies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to promoting literacy and a love of reading in a school environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working with children in a school setting.
  • Familiarity with digital library systems and resources.
  • Experience in curriculum support or collaboration with teachers.
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices and support for diverse learners.
