The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Science Department Second in Charge to lead and inspire the science curriculum, supporting both students and staff in achieving outstanding results. This role is ideal for an experienced and passionate educator looking to make a real difference in a forward-thinking school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the development of the science curriculum across all key stages.
- Provide high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring students achieve their full potential.
- Mentor and support science teachers to enhance teaching standards and student outcomes.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape departmental policies and strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Represent the science department in meetings and external events.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Stay up to date with developments in science education and implement best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS.
- Proven experience in a leadership or senior teaching role within a school.
- Strong subject knowledge in science, with a passion for inspiring students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
Preferred
- Experience in a second in charge or deputy head role.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
- Experience with co-educational settings and new school environments.
