The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Science Laboratory Technician to support science teaching at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This role is ideal for someone with a background in laboratory work or an enthusiastic new entrant to the sector. You will ensure practical lessons run smoothly, manage resources, and maintain high health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and resources for science lessons
  • Support science staff in delivering practical lessons across all key stages
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are strictly followed in the laboratory
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of laboratory apparatus
  • Collaborate with the lead technician to ensure smooth operations
  • Provide guidance and support to students during practical sessions
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a laboratory setting or relevant educational environment
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Commitment to health and safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Science Laboratory Technician in a school setting
  • Knowledge of science curriculum requirements at KS3, KS4, and KS5
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and maintenance
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in educational environments
