The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Science Laboratory Technician to support science teaching at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This role is ideal for someone with a background in laboratory work or an enthusiastic new entrant to the sector. You will ensure practical lessons run smoothly, manage resources, and maintain high health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and resources for science lessons
- Support science staff in delivering practical lessons across all key stages
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are strictly followed in the laboratory
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of laboratory apparatus
- Collaborate with the lead technician to ensure smooth operations
- Provide guidance and support to students during practical sessions
- Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a laboratory setting or relevant educational environment
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Commitment to health and safety standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Science Laboratory Technician in a school setting
- Knowledge of science curriculum requirements at KS3, KS4, and KS5
- Experience with laboratory equipment and maintenance
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in educational environments
