Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective science lessons that promote deep understanding and enthusiasm for the subject.
  • Support the development and implementation of a dynamic, sequenced curriculum that builds fundamental science skills.
  • Enhance student progress through consistent routines, strong feedback, and expert modelling of metacognitive strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Faculty to identify opportunities for student support and challenge.
  • Joint-plan schemes of work with colleagues to ensure alignment with departmental goals and standards.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively through a balance of praise and appropriate sanctions.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations and mutual respect within the classroom and across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and qualified teacher status (QTS).
  • Strong pedagogical background and a passion for science education.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality lessons consistently and effectively.
  • Commitment to the school’s core values and ethos.
  • Experience in behaviour management and whole-school teaching and learning foci.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Science at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Background in metacognition and oracy strategies.
  • Experience with curriculum development and planning.
  • Familiarity with the Tove Learning Trust and its values.
