Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective science lessons that promote deep understanding and enthusiasm for the subject.
- Support the development and implementation of a dynamic, sequenced curriculum that builds fundamental science skills.
- Enhance student progress through consistent routines, strong feedback, and expert modelling of metacognitive strategies.
- Collaborate with the Head of Faculty to identify opportunities for student support and challenge.
- Joint-plan schemes of work with colleagues to ensure alignment with departmental goals and standards.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively through a balance of praise and appropriate sanctions.
- Promote a culture of high expectations and mutual respect within the classroom and across the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and qualified teacher status (QTS).
- Strong pedagogical background and a passion for science education.
- Ability to deliver high-quality lessons consistently and effectively.
- Commitment to the school’s core values and ethos.
- Experience in behaviour management and whole-school teaching and learning foci.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching Science at GCSE and A-Level.
- Background in metacognition and oracy strategies.
- Experience with curriculum development and planning.
- Familiarity with the Tove Learning Trust and its values.
