The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Science lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with complex learning difficulties.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans that support the academic and personal development of each student.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to teaching and behaviour management.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing feedback to support learning and development.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Support students in developing life skills and preparing for future academic and vocational pathways.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and achievement.
  • Engage with parents and carers to ensure a collaborative approach to student support and development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant teaching experience, preferably in a special needs setting.
  • Experience teaching Science to students with complex learning needs, including autism and emotional behavioural difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and create a positive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Familiarity with vocational and practical learning approaches.
  • Experience with behaviour management techniques tailored to students with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of curriculum frameworks and assessment strategies for students with special educational needs.
