The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in biology, chemistry, and physics at KS3, KS4, and Sixth Form.
  • Plan and prepare practical experiments that promote curiosity and understanding.
  • Ensure all practical activities are conducted safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Assess student progress and use data to inform planning and intervention strategies.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student development and achievement.
  • Create a positive, well-managed classroom environment that fosters learning and growth.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and resource creation within the Science department.
  • Support students in achieving strong outcomes at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Participate in enrichment activities, including trips, clubs, and wider school events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong subject knowledge in science (biology, chemistry, and physics).
  • Experience teaching science up to GCSE level, with the ability to teach A-Level in at least one specialism.
  • Commitment to student progress and the ability to use assessment effectively to drive achievement.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to departmental improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience with curriculum development and resource creation.
  • Background in teaching within a school that values a knowledge-rich, traditional approach to teaching and learning.
  • Familiarity with instructional strategies such as those outlined in 'Teach Like A Champion' and Rosenshine’s principles.
  • Experience in delivering professional development or mentoring colleagues.
