The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join a strong and growing department during a maternity cover period. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the continued success of a school that values high standards, innovation, and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Science to a range of students across Key Stages 3 and 4, including top sets in Chemistry and Physics.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that engage students and promote academic excellence.
  • Participate in departmental trips, extra-curricular activities, and competitions such as the Lego Creator Competition.
  • Support the development of the Science curriculum and contribute to the department’s vision and goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve student outcomes and share best practices.
  • Prepare and mark student work in line with the school’s standards and expectations.
  • Attend staff meetings, departmental meetings, and other school-related events.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Science, preferably with experience in Chemistry and Physics.
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting.
  • Commitment to student achievement and a passion for Science education.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on departmental responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching top sets and managing mixed-ability classes.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to extra-curricular Science activities.
  • Familiarity with AQA Science qualifications and examination requirements.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
