The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Science Technician Apprentice to support the delivery of practical science lessons and maintain a safe and well-organised learning environment. This role offers the opportunity to work towards a Level 3 apprenticeship in Laboratory Technician, combining on-the-job training with structured learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and provide equipment, apparatus, and chemicals for laboratory experiments
  • Support teaching staff during practical lessons
  • Maintain and manage laboratory resources and inventory
  • Ensure a safe and well-organised learning environment at all times
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of laboratory equipment
  • Contribute to the smooth running of practical science provision
  • Follow health and safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment
  • Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of laboratory areas

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Enthusiasm and motivation to pursue a career in science
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support teaching staff
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and well-organised learning environment
  • Willingness to complete the Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship
  • Basic understanding of health and safety procedures in a laboratory setting

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a laboratory or technical role
  • Experience with science equipment and chemicals
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Interest in science and education
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (dependant on age)
  • Structured on-the-job training and learning programme

  • Full-time, term-time only position with 37 hours per week
