The Opportunity:
As a Science Technician (Biology), you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical science education. You will work closely with teachers to ensure that all laboratory equipment and resources are ready for use, enabling students to engage in hands-on learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain all laboratory equipment and resources for practical science lessons.
- Assist in the safe and efficient setup and cleanup of experiments and demonstrations.
- Collaborate with teachers to support the delivery of engaging and stimulating science courses.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all laboratory environments.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory.
- Provide technical support during practical lessons and examinations.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of laboratory procedures and resources.
- Support the wider science department with general administrative and technical tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working in a laboratory environment.
- A qualification in Biology or a related subject.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with teachers and students.
Preferred
- Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly in a school laboratory.
- A graduate degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with laboratory safety procedures and best practices.
- Knowledge of modern science teaching techniques and equipment.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary of £30,000 - £34,000 pro-rata.
