The Opportunity:

As a Science Technician (Biology), you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical science education. You will work closely with teachers to ensure that all laboratory equipment and resources are ready for use, enabling students to engage in hands-on learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain all laboratory equipment and resources for practical science lessons.
  • Assist in the safe and efficient setup and cleanup of experiments and demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with teachers to support the delivery of engaging and stimulating science courses.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all laboratory environments.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory.
  • Provide technical support during practical lessons and examinations.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of laboratory procedures and resources.
  • Support the wider science department with general administrative and technical tasks.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • A qualification in Biology or a related subject.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with teachers and students.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly in a school laboratory.
  • A graduate degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience with laboratory safety procedures and best practices.
  • Knowledge of modern science teaching techniques and equipment.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary of £30,000 - £34,000 pro-rata.
