Summary:

Science Technician needed to support Science Department with practical lessons and equipment.

The Opportunity:

As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Science Department by preparing resources, setting up equipment, and assisting with practical sessions and examinations. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing the learning experience for students and enabling effective science teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and organize materials, resources, and equipment for science lessons and practical sessions.
  • Assist teaching staff with the setup and management of laboratory and classroom equipment.
  • Support the delivery of practical and examination sessions, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain and manage laboratory stock, ensuring all items are in good working order.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure the smooth running of science-related activities.
  • Support the Animal Care program by working with animals where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the science department.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred

  • Experience of working in a school environment.
  • Experience with Animal Care at Level 2 (BTEC) or Level 3 (Animal Care T Level).
  • Previous experience in a science or technical support role.
  • Knowledge of science laboratory procedures and equipment.
