The Opportunity:

A Science Technician is needed to provide technical support for practical lessons and assist students in their learning. This role is essential in ensuring a high-quality science education and supporting the school's STEM-focused curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of practical science lessons across all year groups.
  • Maintain and manage science equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.
  • Prepare and set up laboratory and teaching resources in line with lesson plans.
  • Assist students with practical tasks, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Collaborate with science teachers to support curriculum delivery and student learning.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Provide guidance and support to students on practical procedures and scientific methods.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of science-related projects and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong background in STEM subjects with up-to-date knowledge of science principles and laboratory practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to student safety and adherence to safeguarding procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting, ideally in a science-related role.
  • Knowledge of current science teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience with curriculum development and support for practical learning.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment.
