The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning by preparing and maintaining science equipment and resources.
  • Ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in accordance with COSHH and ESCC regulations.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to students and teachers on practical aspects of the science curriculum.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and safety checks.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure that science laboratories are well-organised and conducive to learning.
  • Identify and prioritise work tasks, managing own workload and that of others effectively.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation relevant to the role.
  • Contribute to the development of a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Levels or NVQ3 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation relevant to school environments.
  • Understanding of COSHH and ESCC regulations for the safe handling and storage of chemicals.
  • Ability to support students and teachers with practical science curriculum needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
