The Opportunity:
As Second in Science Department, you will co-lead the Science department and play a key role in shaping its strategic direction. This is a unique opportunity to drive excellence in Science teaching and learning, ensuring outstanding outcomes for students across all key stages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-lead the Science department in partnership with the Head of Department
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes in Science
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages
- Support the delivery of an innovative and engaging Science curriculum
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of Science staff and students
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience for students
- Contribute to the school’s wider strategic goals and initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in Science teaching at Key Stages 3 and 4
- Experience in subject or whole-school leadership
- A track record of achieving outstanding student outcomes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team
- Knowledge of Science curriculum developments and innovations
- Experience in sixth-form teaching or leadership
- Familiarity with assessment and data analysis in Science education
- Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar organisation
