The Opportunity:

As Second in Science Department, you will co-lead the Science department and play a key role in shaping its strategic direction. This is a unique opportunity to drive excellence in Science teaching and learning, ensuring outstanding outcomes for students across all key stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-lead the Science department in partnership with the Head of Department
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes in Science
  • Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages
  • Support the delivery of an innovative and engaging Science curriculum
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of Science staff and students
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience for students
  • Contribute to the school’s wider strategic goals and initiatives

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in Science teaching at Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Experience in subject or whole-school leadership
  • A track record of achieving outstanding student outcomes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team
  • Knowledge of Science curriculum developments and innovations
  • Experience in sixth-form teaching or leadership
  • Familiarity with assessment and data analysis in Science education
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar organisation
