The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Secondary English Teacher to join its high-achieving humanities department. This role offers the opportunity to teach students aged 11-18 and prepare them for GCSE and A-Level examinations in a well-resourced and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons to students across Key Stages 3 to 5
- Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations with a focus on deep conceptual understanding
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and high-quality curriculum
- Support student wellbeing and academic progress through individualised feedback and guidance
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings to enhance teaching practice
- Monitor and assess student performance regularly to ensure continuous improvement
- Stay up to date with current educational trends and best practices in teaching English
- Contribute to the school’s mission of academic excellence and student development
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in English or a closely related subject
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- Minimum of two years' teaching experience in a British curriculum school
- Proven ability to teach English at KS3, GCSE (KS4), and A-Level (KS5)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred
- Experience with specific exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, or OCR)
- Track record of excellent student outcomes at GCSE and A-Level
- Experience teaching in an international school setting
