The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a passionate and qualified Secondary English Teacher to inspire students across a range of language proficiencies. The role involves teaching English Language and Literature to students at Key Stage 3, (I)GCSE, and A Level, with opportunities to support both first and second language learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach English Language and Literature to students at Key Stage 3, (I)GCSE, and A Level.
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs.
- Foster a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking in students.
- Support students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and English Second Language (ESL).
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
- Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives.
- Monitor and assess student progress effectively.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and school events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in English or a closely related field.
- A relevant postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS).
- Experience teaching English Language and Literature to Secondary School students.
- Experience teaching Key Stage 3, (I)GCSE and A Level English.
Preferred
- A master’s or postgraduate qualification in a related subject.
- Experience teaching EAL students (English as an Additional Language and English Second Language).
- Experience in English Second Language assessment (e.g. IELTS Assessor).
Compensation & Benefits:
- Two-year renewable contracts with a competitive salary.
