The Opportunity:

As a Secondary School Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic well-being of students in the high school division. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through individual and group counseling, program development, and collaboration with teachers and parents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive, trusting, and developmentally appropriate relationships with students.
  • Provide individual and small-group counseling to address academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Respond effectively to students in crisis, offering immediate support and collaborating with school leaders on intervention strategies.
  • Design and implement programs that promote students’ emotional intelligence, resilience, and interpersonal skills.
  • Lead and teach social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons by grade level throughout the academic year.
  • Facilitate monthly professional development sessions for teachers focused on supporting students with Tier 1 social-emotional challenges.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Student Support Team (SST) and Safeguarding Team to ensure coordinated care and appropriate interventions for students.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing social-emotional counseling to middle and/or high school students in an international school setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, school counseling, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Eligibility for a work visa in Korea, including a clean background check (no criminal record, including misdemeanors).

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in clinical or school counseling, psychology, or a related field.
  • Certified school counselor (U.S., Canada, U.K., or equivalent credential).
  • Experience providing counseling support in a boarding school environment.
  • Experience working within an MTSS framework.
  • Fluency in Korean and/or Mandarin Chinese.
