A school dedicated to providing education for pupils aged 5 to 19 with SEMH and ASD, using a therapeutic, relationship-based approach. It prioritizes compassion, understanding, and flexibility to support each pupil’s unique needs and help them grow.

The Opportunity:

As an SEMH Key Stage 2 Primary Teacher, you will lead and teach a KS2 class, supported by specialist teachers. You will play a key role in helping pupils with SEMH, NLD, ADHD, and other complex needs to overcome barriers to learning and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and teach a KS2 class with pupils with SEMH and complex needs.
  • Deliver creative and engaging lessons that support the development of social, life, and independence skills.
  • Work closely with specialist teachers and a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic support for pupils.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils, ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Continuously improve the learning experience through innovative and tailored teaching approaches.
  • Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience, and the ability to thrive in future adult life.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent and effective teaching practices.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in SEMH or special needs education.
  • Proven experience working with pupils with SEMH, NLD, ADHD, and complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic, relationship-based approaches to education.
  • Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering creative curriculum content.
  • Background in working with pupils with EHCPs.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies in SEMH settings.
  • Previous involvement in multi-disciplinary team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of alternative and holistic educational approaches.
