The Opportunity:
As an SEMH Key Stage 2 Primary Teacher, you will lead and teach a KS2 class, supported by specialist teachers. You will play a key role in helping pupils with SEMH, NLD, ADHD, and other complex needs to overcome barriers to learning and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and teach a KS2 class with pupils with SEMH and complex needs.
- Deliver creative and engaging lessons that support the development of social, life, and independence skills.
- Work closely with specialist teachers and a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic support for pupils.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils, ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Continuously improve the learning experience through innovative and tailored teaching approaches.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience, and the ability to thrive in future adult life.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent and effective teaching practices.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in SEMH or special needs education.
- Proven experience working with pupils with SEMH, NLD, ADHD, and complex needs.
- Strong understanding of therapeutic, relationship-based approaches to education.
- Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- Experience in developing and delivering creative curriculum content.
- Background in working with pupils with EHCPs.
- Experience with behaviour management strategies in SEMH settings.
- Previous involvement in multi-disciplinary team collaboration.
- Knowledge of alternative and holistic educational approaches.
