The Opportunity:

As SEN Assistant Head, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the school, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, and wellbeing. This is a fixed-term opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a school that values innovation and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example, modelling outstanding SEN practice and a positive, inclusive ethos.
  • Support the Head of School in delivering high standards of teaching and learning across the curriculum.
  • Champion staff development through coaching, mentoring, and professional learning.
  • Oversee transitions for pupils at key stages and into post-16 pathways.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing by liaising with internal and external support services.
  • Contribute to school improvement through data analysis, lesson observations, and strategic planning.
  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of your team and deputize for the Head of School when required.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted, Independent School Standards, and school development planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Enhanced DBS with Barred List Check
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Experience teaching pupils with ASC and ADHD
  • Leadership experience and contribution to school improvement

Preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted, Independent School Standards, and school development planning
  • Experience with staff development and coaching
  • Passion for inclusive education and student wellbeing
