The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN Class Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students with autism and complex needs. This role is ideal for someone who is creative, adaptable, and committed to helping young people achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to the needs of students with autism and related conditions.
- Plan and implement a broad and balanced curriculum that supports academic, social, and emotional development.
- Support and supervise Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, contributing to their professional development.
- Monitor and report on the well-being, health, and personal care of students, liaising with relevant support teams.
- Implement school policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs, including those with anxiety and challenging behaviours.
- Encourage independence and resilience in students both inside and outside the classroom.
- Provide guidance and support across a range of learning approaches and pathways.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Experience teaching students with autism and related needs
- Strong knowledge of the curriculum and its adaptation for SEN students
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
- Ability to build strong, nurturing relationships with students
- Experience managing a team of teaching assistants
Preferred
- Experience teaching entry level or GCSE in Computing
- Experience in achieving outstanding outcomes in education
- Knowledge of visual teaching methods and strategies for engaging reluctant learners
- Flexibility, creativity, and ability to adapt teaching to individual needs
